Neil Dickinson

After a career spent as a medical writer, translating data-heavy clinical studies into more easily digestible communications, Neil joined Slough Writers to explore the more creative side of his writing skills.

The support and encouragement he received from the group were instrumental in bringing his children’s book character to life.

Scotch the Scare-go is a scarecrow who has the magical ability to help young children overcome their fears and anxieties. There are so far two books in the series with a third on the way and on-line sales are approaching the 3,000 mark. Customer feedback has been exceptional and the books seem to be liked by early years teachers, parents and grandparents.

“We bought a couple of these books for our children at Pre School to help with their anxieties and transition to school and they absolutely love them they have been really helpful. Would definitely recommend. Thank you so much.”

Neil would also like to thank the books’ illustrator Dave Clark, who is an old working colleague and has brought the characters to life so brilliantly.
