Performance poet presents new work to group ahead of tour

We were honoured to welcome internationally acclaimed dub poet and creative writer, Lennox Carty, to our meeting on Monday 19 October 2026 ahead of his new tour.

Lennox Carty

Dub poet and creative writer

Lennox presented his 30-minute poem ‘Our Journey’ documenting the story of black slaves being taken from Africa on slave ships and its devastating effects on his ancestors.

The highly moving performance included his unique style of dub poetry with spoken commentary and a heavy metal chain.

Members praised Lennox for his enlightening performance and provided feedback on how the work could be further developed ahead its school tour next year.

Lennox can next be seen locally at Royal Windsor Racecourse on Saturday 31 October as part of the (Thames Valley) Afro-Caribbean Heritage Society’s ‘Routes to Roots’ event.
