It was the awards night for the book review competition, with Judge, Emma Warren, who works as buyer and reviewer at “The Little Bookshop in Cookham,”. Emma talked about her background and her roles as buyer and reviewer. She said that the reviews in the competition were of a higher standard than some professional reviews she had read.
Competition results.
1st - Mike Ranes with “the orphan violin”, an appreciation of, “The Instrumentalist” by Harriet Constable.
2nd - Lorraine Forrest-Turner with, “Why Eleanor?”, her review of “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman
3rd - Lee Taylor with his review of “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,” by John Le Carre
Highly commended Neil Dickinson with “Stones and Ripples” a review of “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” by Thomas Hardy.
